Red Lake Flight Simulator
2023-01-30
FBU worked with our longtime fabrication partner Juiceworks to create a unique flight simulator experience for the Red Lake Regional Heritage Centre. The town has a unique claim to 1937's busiest airport in the world.
The installation highlights the importance of the early days of aviation in opening the Northern regions of Canada. This experience consists of a physical cockpit with flight controls and custom hardware to allow visitors to either interact with a custom Microsoft Flight Simulator bush trip or a video presentation.
Sitting in the cockpit and flying over the expansive, remote region gives visitors a new understanding of the appreciation of the wilderness in the remote norther communities.
